[mah-sah-k | mah-sah-k] - origin: malaysia
noun

1. to cook (verb); pl. a child's imaginative game of cooking
2. emily lai's exquisite malaysian inspired cuisine

masak | masak was born from the inner passion of emily with south east asian cuisine and love for wine. there is lacking of spectacular south east asian food in san francisco. not knowing if anyone in the san francisco is ready for deep and intense flavors, emily asked her dearest friend, ceri smith of biondivino if she can run a weekly pop up in her small boutique wine shop. giddy with the concept, both ceri and emily dove right in. one week later, ceri hand drew the logo and emily started the pop up.

the collaboration worked fabulously because just like the vast amount of spices and ingredients that makes masak | masak's dishes robust and intense, the multilayer, organic and biodynamic wines of italy and near regions makes biondivino the unexpected wine offerings. masak | masak has grown out of its space at biondivino, and is currently working on a innovative way to host its pop up. please stay tune...
